Please join artist Annie Ward in The Gallery Symondsbury for a talk and tour on Sunday 20 October at 1pm, to coincide with her exhibition there (12-23 October). Annie will be sharing with visitors the ideas and research behind her most recent series of paintings. Living in Dorset, the history of the local landscape has become an increasing focus for her work. Her latest abstract paintings are based on her initial research into satellite photographs and historic maps of the area.
‘I begin with research, then I explore ideas in paint. Each painting builds on the ideas developed in the previous painting in a progressive learning process. As the work evolves, a visual language begins to emerge – the paintings in this exhibition map that ongoing journey of exploration.’
Since graduating from The Birmingham Institute of Art and Design with a First-Class Honours Degree in Fine Art, Annie’s work has been selected for exhibition at The Mall Galleries, The Bankside Gallery, Bath Society of Artists, The South West Academy, The Royal West of England Academy, Wells Art Contemporary, Black Swan Arts, The Atkinson Gallery, Salisbury Arts Centre, Newport Art Gallery, Thelma Hulbert Gallery and Oxford Visual Arts.
Annie is an elected Academician with the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts and has recently become a Member of Lyme Bay Arts.
