We host a regularly-changing programme of exhibitions, lasting from two weeks to a month, in our two gallery spaces – the main Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery, and the smaller gallery in the shop, where you can also buy a range of locally-made ceramics, textiles, cards and other tempting work; plus our popular range of SSW-branded art materials. Our sister site Sou’-Sou’-West Gallery has the details.

Becoming a supporter contributes to our arts organisation Lyme Bay Arts, allowing us to continue our work as a Community Interest Company and grow the reputation of our flagship gallery and shop, Sou’-Sou’-West.  This year, we are re-launching our supporters’ scheme, and would like to invite you to join us now as a Supporter Friend, Artist Friend or Benefactor of LBA.

You will be joining a network of like-minded people who love the visual arts, helping us to create opportunities for artists and makers, to realise our ambitious programme of exhibitions and events, and to ensure our stability and accessibility continues long into the future to benefit our local community.

Artist Friend

Fee: £50 annually

As an artist friend you have all the benefits above, and also gain free entry into the annual exhibition for Artist Friends.

We will also send you regular e-communications with behind-the-scenes information about current and upcoming shows, advance notice of creative activities and opportunities, alerts to new products and collections in SSW Shop and early access to online exhibitions.

Lyme Bay Arts is a community-based enterprise of artists, makers and arts organisations from the Southwest. It runs two permanent exhibition venues and a gallery shop on the Symondsbury Estate in Dorset, organises outreach showcases, generates promotion in the media, and provides its supporters with educational and social events like talks, workshops, demonstrations and mentoring.

Our address is The Gallery, Symondsbury Estate, Symondsbury, Bridport DT6 6HG.
We are open daily from 10:30-16:30 (summertime) and till 3:30 (wintertime), but if you’re coming a long way specially to visit, please call first to make sure the main gallery is open – it is closed for a few days for rehanging before each new show.

While you are here, there are several other shops and a café to visit, as well as country walks on the estate and farm animals to see.
